Sidemount Wing
I was lucky and already had a spare wing bladder. But using just a bladder in cave diving with no outer cover isnt great and wouldnt last long. I also had some spare inflation and dump valve fittings. So it would be rude not to make one.
The cover is made from 1000D cordura. I fitted a zip as you have to be able to sew it inside out when making the thing. The zip has a cover held closed by velcro and this stops mud clogging the zip. The inflation and dump fittings came off an old buddy commando BCD. Attachment points were sewn in that allow it to be quickly installed or left permanently on your harness. The attachment points also make sure that the wing always sits central on your back. I've found that sidemount wings that are only held in place with chest bungees and clips can shift position and you can end up with the wing off to one side. Two chest bungees and clips keep everything tidy. A few drain holes are fitted within the bottom gusset of the wing.
